Rowing Creates Opportunities On and Off the Water

As Gentle Giant begins preparing for our second turn as the Official Moving Partner of the Head Of The Charles Regatta, we began thinking about the tradition and culture of rowing, and how the rowing community supports rowers seeking personal and professional success off the water.

Gentle Giant is one of several local organizations that would not exist if not for the values and culture embedded in the sport of rowing. Dedication, fitness, resilience, enthusiasm, and teamwork are at the core of the rower’s spirit, which explains why so many rowers convert these attributes into success off the water. The greatest example of this is the Head Of The Charles Regatta, which has grown from a group of rowers back in 1965 developing a fun grass roots event into the world’s largest Regatta, hosting over 300,000 rowers, coaches, alumni, and spectators over one incredible weekend.

Gentle Giant was also founded, and still relies on, these same values. Our company was literally built on the capable backs of world class athletes; from two Northeastern rowers in a truck to a Globe 100′s Top Places to Work. By relying on and supporting each other over the past three decades, the relationship between Gentle Giant and the rowing community has strengthened immensely. The culmination of this relationship will be in full effect during the Regatta this weekend as Gentle Giant is scheduled to provide hundreds of man hours and logistics to the Regatta in exchange for a sponsorship that allows the Giants to be right down on the water with our Gentle Giant Speed Stairs, a fun recruiting challenge that rowers from around the world compete on with the hopes of scoring a great job at GG.

We encourage everyone to come enjoy the festivities surrounding the Head Of The Charles Regatta, and be sure to come by Gentle Giant’s booth to have some fun and maybe win a great prize!
