Washington, DC - Moving and Storage Company Gentle Giant Moving Company, an award winning local and interstate mover, today announced that revenues for its Washington, DC regional operations in 2010 grew 66 percent in local move services compared to last year. Gentle Giant movers conducted 705 shipments in the region in comparison to last years' 438 shipments. This marks the first time the company has exceeded 600 regional shipments outside of New England, where the company is based.
"The mission of Gentle Giant has always been to provide our customers with exceptional service, and do so with care, efficiency, and courtesy," said DC Regional Manager Matthew Packebusch. "We continue to accomplish this by hiring outstanding, intelligent, and highly trained individuals."
After formally establishing a local moving and storage presence in the greater DC area in 2006 with a branch in Lorton, VA, Gentle Giant has experienced steady growth in revenue and demand for its professional moving services. A strong local housing market combined with positive word-of-mouth have helped enable the company to increase the size of its operation in the area, including a second moving and storage branch location in downtown Washington, DC. Gentle Giant Moving Company now employs 12 highly trained moving crew members and has four of its purple, gold, and green trucks running daily.
Gentle Giant Moving Company's growth in the metro DC area in 2010 was part of the companies 30th Anniversary initiatives for 2010 set forth by company Founder and CEO Larry O'Toole. Initiatives included geographic expansion, investments in sales and marketing development, creating employee growth opportunities, and an enhanced online presence. Gentle Giant's reputation in metro DC has been reflected on local review sites like Yelp and Angie's List, where customers regularly share their positive experiences. The company also received accolades in 2010, including "Independent Mover of the Year" from DC-based American Moving and Storage Association.
"Our most valued achievement is the feedback of the many satisfied customers," said Gentle Giant CEO Larry O'Toole. "Our belief has always been that if you invest in your employees, set high expectations, and reward them for treating people well, your customers will receive the best care, and they will share their experience with others."
