Kris Walker, New York Branch Manager
As a New York native and Ithaca College graduate, Kris is thrilled to return to his
home state as Branch Manager of Gentle Giant's White Plains, NY office. Well known
amongst Giants for his athletic & adventurous feats, including climbs of Mt.
Rainier, Mt. McKinley, and Mt. Denali, Kris was also an active rower while
growing up and in college, a sport that eventually led him to Gentle Giant.
After taking a year off to work as a gaffer on Hollywood films, Kris graduated
college and headed north to Boston, giving Gentle Giant Director of Human Resources
David Lister a call along the way.
When not ascending the world's highest peaks, Kris has been spotted running the Boston
Marathon and competing on Gentle Giant's own crew team in the world-famous rowing
event, The Head of the Charles. Kris is also known for his somewhat unusual
zest for "running the stairs"- a Giant trademark of routinely running, rather than
walking, back and forth from the truck in order to pace a move as efficiently
as possible.
Among memorable moments in his time as a Giant, Kris recalls moving a customer from
a Boston 5th floor walkup to a 6th floor walkup in 100 degree, 100% humidity
conditions, which earned the attention of news crews out filming that day. Kris
later expanded his television experience when featured on several episodes of
Gentle Giant's reality television show, Make Your Move, which aired on the
Discovery Home Network during the 2005 season.
