Athlete of the Month: Jadson De Sousa

We’re proud to announce that Somerville Giant Jadson De Sousa is Gentle Giant’s Athlete of the Month for May!

Jadson is a semi-professional soccer player currently playing for Aiolikos Rush F.C., a team focused on giving talented players opportunities to be seen and scouted by professional leagues.

While soccer headlines Jadson’s athletic resume and occupies much of his focus, he finds plenty of other ways to challenge himself physically, particularly through endurance activities in the great outdoors. Last month, Jadson was one of five Giants who ran the Boston Marathon. With only a month of training, he finished in an impressive 3 hours and 48 minutes.

Jadson has spent years living and playing soccer overseas in Brazil, Portugal, and most recently Latvia. During his time abroad, he became much more conscious of his body, nature, and the connection between the two. Books like David Goggins’ Can’t Hurt Me have inspired him to view physical challenges as opportunities to strengthen both his body and mind.

After returning home from Latvia in November 2021, Jadson began working at Gentle Giant and found the job to be a natural fit. With his background in team sports and his appreciation for a healthy challenge, he quickly earned the respect of his coworkers.

One coworker shared:

“Jadson is extremely down to earth. He has a great work ethic, and sees the big picture on jobs. He also has an evolved sense of humor, and knows how and when to use it especially on hard jobs to loosen up the atmosphere and bring morale up.”

We’re proud to highlight Jadson as Gentle Giant’s Athlete of the Month for May. He’s a great athlete and a great representative of Gentle Giant and our core H.E.A.R.T. values: Honesty, Enthusiasm, Above and Beyond, Respect, and Teamwork.
