Gentle Giant Receives Massachusetts Health Council Award

Gentle Giant Receives Massachusetts Health Council Award

As a company focused on health and wellness for all employees, the Gentle Giant staff in Massachusetts was honored to receive the Workplace Wellness award from the Massachusetts Health Council. We were selected by the council as its 2018 Workplace Wellness Honoree for our outstanding and innovative workplace wellness program. Only one company is recognized annually for this honor.

Gentle Giant:  History of Health and Wellness

Since Gentle Giant was founded, health and wellness have been key elements of what creates our brand and culture. Our founder, Larry O’Toole, was a rower at Northeastern University, and many of our current and former employees are part of the rowing community. We have a wide variety of other athletics represented as well, from runners to fencers to CrossFit professionals.

At our moving headquarters in Somerville, Mass. we have a CrossFit gym, a chiropractor on-site, and an annual wellness week filled with workshops and courses. We also offer a monthly meditation session, so employees can practice mindfulness and take care of their mental health as well. Across all our offices, we offer free gym memberships to employees and other wellness perks.

During the wellness event by the Massachusetts Health Council, attendees were able to vote on healthy appetizer samples made by local chefs, followed by the presentation of the awards. We were very thankful to receive this honor and we look forward to continuing our healthy workplace practices both locally and across the country.
