Founded in 1980 by owner Larry O’Toole, Boston has been the national headquarters for Gentle Giant Moving Company for over 40 years. Andre Eilers is Gentle Giant's Washington DC Regional Manager. He began his career with Gentle Giant back in 2012 when he moved to the US from his home country of Germany, and he has been with the company ever since, quickly progresses from mover to manager. His favorite things about working for GG include the ability to see different places and meet different people everyday, the physical aspect of the work, and 'the feeling of reward you get after a hard day of work.'
Andre credits his time at Gentle Giant with learning how to improvise and adapt to any given situation at any time on a move. 'Every day is different, and no two moves are the same. Each move presents its own set of challenges. I have learned to improvise and think on my toes to get the job done quickly and efficiently for our customers over the years.'
A graduate of the University of Bonn in Germany, Andre has a master's degree in Sociology, Philosophy, and Political Science. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, reading, writing, and collecting records. He also loves to work out and he is a very familiar face at the Gentle Giant DC warehouse gym where many Giants gather to workout together in the mornings and evenings.

When Kieffer started with Gentle Giant’s DC office, he quickly established himself as a leader. As a lifelong basketball player, he was prepared for the hustle, teamwork and focus expected of a Giant. Now a manager, Kieffer thinks of himself more as a coach, working with new Giants to help them reach top performance.
As is the case in every regional Gentle Giant office, Kieffer and his team preach and live a healthy lifestyle. This is probably why several of our locations have repeatedly been recognized as a Healthiest Employer, including DC in 2020.
Outside of work, Kieffer enjoys traveling, playing basketball and working out with his fellow Giants. You'll often find him in the DC warehouse gym bright and early before a move as he loves the fun competitive nature that exists when working out with his colleagues.

Milos heard about Gentle Giant from Kieffer Karim, one of our Branch Managers. Before working for Gentle Giant, he played semi-professional basketball for eight years and graduated from Sports Academy Belgrade in Serbia in 2004. The physical nature of being a Crew Chief has allowed him to stay in tip-top shape!
Outside of work, he enjoys lifting weights and playing basketball. He is married, lives in Maryland and has two dogs, Coco and Bella. He is also a part-time real estate agent, after being influenced to become an agent through his work at Gentle Giant.
I used Gentle Giant for my move in June 2024 and kept forgetting to post a review, but I have never stopped talking about how fantastic the move went! This was my first time using any moving company so I don't have a frame of reference for timing or price, but the bar has been set very high and I feel that what I paid was very reasonable for the level of service.Vasile, Andrei, and Trevon were an amazing team and super helpful & friendly. I'm a young-ish woman living solo and I've never felt safer in a room full of men I've never met before. The move took about five hours, including half an hour to drive between buildings and an hour delay in the middle due to the fault of my new building messing up our loading dock reservation. I was blown away by how quickly they were able to work. Everything was packed and transported carefully, the movers disassembled and reassembled Ikea furniture (a known hassle to anyone who's tried) without issue, and nothing was damaged. They went out of their way to help me transport fragile and expensive items that I had driven separately out of concern for them, and in hindsight I did not need to worry about any of it.I have recommended Gentle Giant to everyone I know in the area looking for movers, and the next time I move I will be calling them again!

The attention to detail was phenomenal by the team, they made sure the truck didn't damage any of the trees in our driveway. They offered great interior decorating advise when I was unsure on where to place furniture. All of the big furniture was delicately disassembled and reassembled on arrival. I used to work at a moving company nearly 20 years ago and we always saw Gentle Giant as the pinnacle and it's great to see that the reputation has stood the test of time.

If you have never conducted a household move with a terrible moving company you probably would not fully appreciate how good a job Gentle Giant will do. We have used them for two moves: one local, with storage for several months; and one involving a longer distance. Our most recent experience, moving from Northern Virginia to Pittsburgh in June 2025, was as positive as our last experience in 2022. These people are true professionals who clearly take pride in their work. Our team of Raul, Octavian (who we remembered from 2022) and Erick arrived on time, clearly articulated their plans, fully answered all our questions, and took care of our stuff. They packed our boxes inside rigid bins, wrapped all our furniture, packed our TV and art in special cases, and loaded the truck in a way that ensured it would remain balanced on the road. Most importantly, our crew was polite, engaging, and friendly. We never want to move house with any other company.

Conor, Karun and Octavian arrived on time, worked efficiently, wrapped furniture carefully and interacted with us politely. Unfortunately, one of our furniture pieces was too large to be carried up the stairs of the new property. The guys patiently returned the item to the old property where we will be able to deal with it. Really appreciated their patience and professionalism.

Gentle Giant provided an excellent moving experience. True to their name, the team of movers managed to move all pieces of furniture and items with care, and nothing was damaged. Their expertise was extremely helpful in negotiating large and awkward furniture around very tight corners and low door frames. Everything was thorough, efficient, and damage-free. I highly recommend Gentle Giant for your move!
