Queens’ residents are well used to the sound of airplanes buzzing overhead as two of the city’s main airports, John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia, are situated here.
The least populated of the five boroughs, Staten Island is sometimes referred to as the ‘forgotten borough.’ The area is not connected to the New York City Subway system. Instead, inhabitants can take the free Staten Island Ferry to Manhattan across New York Harbor. The Ferry is perfect for those in search of the best views of the Statue of Liberty. The world-famous statue is an American symbol of hope and was constructed in 1886 as a gift from the people of France.
The Bronx is a popular neighborhood for those looking to escape the concrete jungle. About a quarter of the borough is open space and residents and visitors alike can take advantage of its many green parks and fun outdoor activities. The Bronx Zoo is one of the world’s most famous zoos and is perfect for a fun-filled family day out. Its attractions include a butterfly garden and penguin feedings. This NYC borough is also where one of the more popular New York sports teams compete. You can catch the Yankees baseball team at Yankee Stadium where sporting legends like Babe Ruth and Derek Jeter once played.
