As a leader in the moving and storage business Gentle Giant is known for our commitment to customer service and satisfaction, which has set us apart from others in our industry. Gentle Giant believes that we have a responsibility not only to our customers, but to the environment that we share with them. That is why we maintain responsible behaviors that include reducing waste, reusing materials whenever possible, and recycling. At Gentle Giant we aim to create more value with less environmental impact.
Ways we limit our environmental impact:
- We maintain a company-wide policy of reducing and reusing our packing materials whenever possible.
- We offer complimentary post-move retrieval of used packing materials in our New England region.
- We re-sell as many used boxes as we can, at discounted prices.
- We collect all non-reusable packing materials, which are then compacted and sent to a recycling center. We expect to recycle anywhere between 60,000 - 80,000 pounds of materials in a given year.
- On average our moving boxes are manufactured from 90% post-consumer recycled materials.
- When necessary, we use only biodegradable foam peanuts, as well as bubble wrap that is made from 35% post-consumer recycled materials.
- We source the production of our packing materials from companies that participate in Sustainable Forestry Initiative programs.
- FSC certified products are used for external marketing materials.
- Gentle Giant is a "Bike Friendly Business" Silver Award winner, as awarded by the City of Boston.
