In the rush of buying a house while pregnant, I didn’t have a chance to carefully research moving companies. Gentle Giant had come to Porker Street (our block party) a few years ago and seemed nice so I just went with y’all.
The quote was what we expected – but then I heard from a friend that his move (with another company) had ended up costing him twice what the company had quoted. I was worried we would have the same experience.
Kieffer came to do a quote and gave us advice on how we could save money by saving the team time (moving fragile things ourselves for example). When asked about eco friendly options, he said we could have used boxes delivered to save money as well.
When Andre (Aussie Andre, not Romanian Andre – I think he’s Aussie anyway) dropped off the boxes we requested, he said he was worried about how narrow the street was. When we brought this up to Kieffer over email, they decided to send just a van for packing day. Kieffer and Domonique were communicative and clear over email leading up to the move.
On packing day, Octavian and Nate were friendly and professional – thinking of everything so I didn’t have to. They were efficient and finished earlier than I expected. They communicated clearly each step of the way and were patient while I made decisions or dealt with unexpected situations. Octavian was worried about how narrow Parker Street is so he called in and ordered a smaller truck to avoid headaches the following day.
On moving day, they were joined by Andre (Romanian Andre). Andre was also great – together they efficiently packed up the rest of the house and loaded up the truck. They worked through lunch so they could finish earlier, meaning I was in my new house with all my stuff earlier than expected. And the final bill was less than my original quote and very reasonable for the amazing job that Gentle Giant did each step of the way. I would absolutely recommend Gentle Giant to a friend.
